Printing Press Loft
Located in NYC's Chelsea neighborhood in a historic printing-press warehouse, this 5,000 SF loft was completed in the fall of 2008. The design maximizes functionality by keeping an open core flanked by bedrooms and support spaces. The raw ink-embedded concrete remains exposed on the ceilings, columns, and edges of the floor. A softer, more livable zone was created using walnut and bright statuary stone surfaces, and floating the ceiling in the bedrooms and bathrooms.
Design features include: full stainless steel custom kitchen, white matte-lacquer and walnut built-in wardrobes and seating, pocket art doors, stainless steel door jambs and window sills, stone shower niches, sliding translucent office doors, and a custom white concrete bathtub. Due to the size of several of these features, it was necessary to crane items to the 12th floor.
